About Us

Ines Stein von Liebig, born in 1970 in Palma de Mallorca, founded the law firm Stein von Liebig Rechtsanwälte in 1993.
She completed her high school diploma at Luis Vives School and successfully completed her law studies at the Universidad de Educación a Distancia in 1992 with a diploma.

The law firm consists of a multidisciplinary team and can advise and represent natural and legal persons from home and abroad. There are few language barriers because, in addition to Spanish, communication is also carried out in German, English and Catalan.

Since Spain in general, like Mallorca in particular, has not only become a popular travel destination for tourists in recent years, but has also become more and more of a focus for international investors, the law firm has also adapted to these new challenges and is now one of them First addresses for questions about setting up companies, tax optimization and questions about temporary or permanent residence.

The law firm also advises local clients when it comes to opening up foreign markets and/or issues of asset protection and tax optimization in connection with options outside of Spain.

Our consulting service: tailored, comprehensive and needs-oriented

Legal advice is a matter of trust. An essential component of successful advice is personal contact. Through direct, continuous exchange, specific requirements can be determined and tailor-made services can be offered. That's why you can count on our performance. We value trusting business relationships and comprehensive professional expertise, which is reflected in the high number of professionals.

These professionals are spread across our four solution lines, ten legal areas as well as a number of legal specialties and areas with integrated solution approaches. As a full-service law firm, we cover all areas of commercial and corporate law. Regular quality controls keep our performance and quality standards at a high level. In addition, a four-eyes principle applies to all KPMG Law employees.

Areas of law

1

General business and commercial law

Commercial law in Spain has its origins in the Middle Ages and developed out of the need to provide merchants with their own special right to pursue their interests in carrying out their commercial transactions with each other. The mixture of the codification of old commercial customs with the decisions of the permanent courts formed independent commercial law. As early as the 12th and 14th centuries, maritime trade law was codified in Barcelona, Valencia and Mallorca through the so-called “Libro del Consulado de Mar”, which was used for centuries in Spanish and other port areas.

Construction and real estate law

If you are planning to buy a property in Spain or have already found your dream property, a number of legal questions arise relatively quickly: starting with the brokerage contract, through a possible privately written (not notarized) purchase contract, to the notarial certification of the purchase contract and its processing , there is a lot to think about and pay attention to.

A lot of things are fundamentally different when buying property in Spain than in German-speaking countries. In real estate transactions, the law of the country in which the property is located usually applies. If real estate is bought or sold in Spain, Spanish law or the law of the respective autonomous community in which the property is located applies.

3

Financial Services Legal

The financial sector is becoming increasingly regulated worldwide. Since the outbreak of the financial market crisis, the EU legislature in particular has launched numerous regulatory initiatives, as a result of which banks, capital management companies and financial service providers are subject to increasingly strict requirements.

At the same time, the growing use of disruptive technologies presents the financial sector with new challenges. New technologies and global monetary and capital market policy also force corporate financing to be continually adjusted. Alternative corporate financing is becoming increasingly important alongside traditional loan financing through banks.

4

Public law

In the two classic core areas of public law, i.e. administrative and constitutional law, you can rely not only on the fact that we can build on extensive and long-standing experience, but also on the fact that our expertise is always up to date. Advice and representation, both out of court and in court, do not focus on short-term success in court, but rather on a quick and comprehensive solution to the problem.

We are used to thinking in an interdisciplinary manner, which means not only taking into account all legal aspects of a case, but also the influences and effects in the economic, technical and medical areas.

5

Civil right

Like all private law, Spanish civil law, in contrast to public law, regulates the fundamentally freely entered into relationships between legally equal persons.

Part of private law is civil law or civil law (Derecho Civil). This makes provisions about people, things and obligations, which establish obligations by contract or by law.

In Spain, private law is regulated not only in the Civil Code (Codigo Civil) but also in special laws on commercial law, labor law, tenancy law, family law, real estate law, construction law, banking law, insurance law, etc., which are published in the Spanish Law Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado).

6

Inheritance law - estate planning

Whether you are an entrepreneur or a private individual, we advise you not only on passing on your own assets to the next generation, but also on distributing inherited assets among those entitled.

We draft wills and inheritance contracts for you, taking your specific personal and economic circumstances into account. In doing so, we not only keep a close eye on the rights of anyone entitled to a compulsory share, but also the tax consequences of asset transfers.

If you have rights due to an inheritance, we will support you in enforcing your claims as an heir, legatee, beneficiary or beneficiary of a compulsory portion.
